Registration

Shopping on RootsLOCAL.co.uk could not be easier but first you need to Register. Registration is free and only takes a few minutes.

Click on the Register button on the top menu and follow the step-by-step instructions. The system will email the address you provide, for confirmation, please ensure that your email address is entered correctly.

If you do not receive your registration email, please contact us and we can check that your email address is accurate and resend it.

Shopping – Browsing and Searching

There are lots of shops and products to browse through.

To Browse, you can click on the Shop button on the top of the screen, or use the shortcut links on the left of the screen, to view the shop you are interested in.

Once you are in a shop, products are ordered by Category and Sub-Category, e.g. Beef Burgers with Onion can be found in the ‘Butchers’ shop under the ‘Beef’ category and the ‘Burgers’ subcategory. Simply click on the and buttons to expand, or collapse, the list you are interested in.

If you know the product you are interested in, but do not know where to find it, you can type part of the title in Search box and search for it. A list of all the matching products will be listed.

Shopping – Product Information

When you have located the product you are interested in, you are provided with additional information to help you with your purchase decision.

In addition to the standard description, product photograph and price, there are a number of symbols that may appear. If you hover your mouse pointer over the symbol, it will tell you what the symbol. A list of symbol is also provided below:

You can get to know the products supplier. The symbol provides a link to the suppliers mini - website.

The boxes that indicate the days of the week are important. These tell you on what days this product can be delivered to you. For example, if you wish to order a product that can only be delivered on a Friday, you must ensure you choose a Friday delivery when you start to shop.

Shopping – Logging in and Logging Off

In order to purchase items you must log in using your username (which is the email address you provided when you registered) and your password. If you have forgotten your password, you can click on the Forgot? link and the system will email your password to you.

You can log off at any time and the contents of your shopping basket will be retained (handy if you need to pop out in the middle of building up your order).

Shopping – Placing Items in Your Basket

If you wish to purchase an item, click on the basket symbol and the item is added to your Basket. The Basket Summary, on the left, indicates how many items are in your basket and what the current total is, excluding delivery (and credit card fee, if applicable).

You can review the contents of your basket and change item quantities at any time. If you need to log out, your basket contents will be retained.

Please note that you cannot proceed to the checkout until you have reached the minimum order quantity (the Checkout button will not appear).

Shopping – Checkout, Delivery and Payment

When you are ready to purchase your items and you have reached the minimum order value, you may proceed to the checkout by clicking the Checkout button at the bottom of the Basket Review screen.

Follow the on screen instructions, read and accept the terms and conditions and make payment with your credit or debit card.

You can book any delivery slot that is available. Delivery slots can be booked for 72 hours from ordering time, and up to three weeks in advance. Slots will only be available provided all the items you have selected are available for that day and there are still free slots available. Please ensure that you are in to receive your order.

There is a surcharge for using a credit card so try and use a debit card if you can. Our payments are taken on Barclaycards’s secure server, so you can be confident that your transaction is safe and secure.
